The Women in Philanthropy and Leadership Conference, hosted by Coastal Carolina University, is one of the most dynamic gatherings of its kind. In 2017, the event welcomed over 700 attendees, from students and entrepreneurs to professionals and changemakers, seeking motivation and practical insight.
Cara Brookins was brought in to deliver the keynote presentation, “Raise My Roof,” which seamlessly blended her personal journey with actionable lessons in resilience and growth. Barbara and Jenna Bush (twin daughters of President George W. Bush) introduced Cara following an interview about their book release. Speaking to a packed ballroom, Cara shared how each woman can build her future with intention, grit, and creativity, even when the foundation feels broken.
Following the keynote, Cara joined attendees for a book signing and networking session. Later that day, she led a smaller breakout session titled “Building Bigger Futures,” where she coached attendees on how to get started on their goals, overcome doubt, and stay motivated long after the event.
Cara’s presence added both heart and structure to the multi-day conference, giving attendees not just inspiration, but also tools for transformation.
