Sidney
lived for too many years under the oppressive hand of her husband Jamie.
She can’t exactly identify the event, argument, or realization that
finally propelled her into motion. The
only thing she knows for certain is that tonight, she and the children must
get out.
A
few nights in a battered women’s shelter gives Sidney, who now calls herself
Sara, time to plan and a few dollars to start their new life.
Jamie will look for her, and if he finds her, he will kill her.
Of that she is certain. Their
names, their appearances and their lifestyle will change forever.
She is prepared to do anything to ensure the safety of her children.
As
they travel south, everything begins to go wrong.
If she goes to the police, there will be a news report that could lead
Jamie to her. At the very least,
she will be stranded. Their
chance of escape, of a new life would end.
Sara makes yet another difficult decision.
They
settle into the foreign feelings of normal American life, but Jamie is closing
in on them. Danger is a step away
from Sara’s front door.
With
her life falling down around her once again, Sara is determined to win this
final battle. If necessary, she
will fight to the death to preserve her freedom.
Her son, Justin, is as resolute as she to see this through to a final
ending. Will their strength,
determination, and intelligence help them escape for good this time?
The
small family treasures the remarkable bond they have developed. They are
far from beaten.
