  LATEST NEWS

The kids and I spent the last year settling into the house that we built with our own hands.  The project was in every way more than we expected.  Together we learned to lay block, frame walls, run plumbing, and  build countertops from quick set concrete.  It is an experience we'll never forget, and our family is forever closer and more confident.

Hope and Drew are busy with school and friends. Hope is working with local politicians and getting settled into college. Drew is learning more about electronics and doing an in-depth study of the xbox 360.  Neither of them have blown anything up recently.

Jada has been devouring books and reading until her eyes are bloodshot.  If I've managed to raise an author, I have a feeling it is Jada.  She has a creative imagination.  She is also singing with her school choir and loves it.

Roman continues to munch on dog food, bugs, dirt and rocks.  He has a frighteningly large vocabulary and knows how to use it to his advantage.  He loves music and is little enough to believe Mommy has a beautiful voice so I sing through the day.  Some day he will wise up and turn the radio up to drown me out.  His favorite book is "There's a Wocket in my Pocket"  we read it too many times a day.  What a happy little guy, he brings laughter to each of our lives.

           Family News!

The kids are working hard in school and at play.  I am working, writing, and going to school.  Life is just plain good!

On the rare occasions when I do find time for play, I enjoy doing many different things.  I love to write, read, build things, make tile mosaics, paint, build things, write computer programs, make web pages, scuba dive, swim, ride my bike, listen to music, play fetch with my chocolate lab... the list really goes on and on.  I like a little bit of everything and writing allows me to express that.

I'm enrolled at UALR as a Technical and Professional writing major and English minor. If all goes as planned I will graduate soon. I am pleased to be apart of the Editing Native American Texts project where some of my anthropology classes will finally be put to use. It is a creative way to add English credits to my schedule and I enjoy it very much.

Sooner or later this writing thing will be my full time job — one way or another!

              Events!
Hard to believe it, but Roman is four.  He is the perfect completion of our family.

He loves the outdoors and is working on his golf swing.  When he isn't outside,  he spends all of his time reading.  I can talk him into anything if I promise to tell him a story.  He can really lose himself in a good story...  just like Me!

Hope recently won four trophies and two crowns at the regional and state Cinderella pageants.  She was also awarded the Daniel Cayce Public Service award through the Clinton School of Public Service.  Now that she's finished her internship at the Clinton Foundation, she is settling into college life and planning an internship in DC.

Jada is surviving middle school where she sings with the choir.  She is ready for boys and group movie dates and dances, even if I'm not.  She has grown so tall and beautiful!

Drew is always looking for something to build/modify or destroy — I mean repair.  He has grown a mop of curly hair and is six feet tall!  He has learned enough building our house to help the school design a new hang out area for the students.  My life is never dull with two kids now driving.
